The only thing close by are the Royal Thai Police HQ and there were some protests going on last week. As of now - nothing.

During the whole time of these situations however I urged people to make use of the train to/from the airport especially when your hotel is conveniently next to a BTS Station. Otherwise you might get caught up in traffic pretty badly.
