This was our favorite Christkindlmarkt. Very small, but we felt the quality was high and couldn't stop ourselves from buying stuff. Everyone was very friendly. Just past the market is a very wonderful pedestrian shopping street and we poked around and found a great place for a light lunch, choosing one from several attractive-looking options. We hadn't bought much on this trip so we broke out the credit cards and let fly.
I'm glad you enjoyed your visit there. I find most Christmas markets in the German cities to be very crowded. The ones in the smaller towns have more atmosphere in my opinion. Plus, the scenic Alpine backdrop in Garmisch adds to the experience. And people sometimes think it is expensive because it is a ski resort town. But the prices (especially for food) are less expensive than most parts of Germany IMO. There is a really good Italian restaurant in the center area of town. The area is also quite beautiful in the summertime.
