I've applied for NEXUS. The challenge with getting NEXUS will be setting up an appointment at YYZ to coincide with my weekend trip up to Canada for the holidays.

If it doesn't work out, the earliest I would get up to Canada again would be Spring or Summer time.

Thank you again for the clarification!
You mean the holidays next year, right? Once you get approval, getting an interview at a place like YYZ will take a while. Typically, the next available appointment there is ~3-4 months away. If you constantly check for cancelations, you can find things sooner, but if you have limited time there, I.e a weekend once in a while, then yes, it can be tough to manage.

Land borders normally have closer in appointments, but many also lack the iris camera needed to capture your iris' which is needed to use the system when flying. Some folks book at a land border crossing without, then go to an airport center(no appt. needed) to do the iris scan.
