From the article:
The aircraft came to rest in brush on the top of a hill, Lamont said. It appeared to have “hit its nose pretty hard — it didn’t look like a glide,” he said.
Obviously, anything at this point is pure speculation. But a relatively heavily loaded Caravan flying in sub-zero weather that just "fell out of the sky" certainly sounds like an icing problem.
