The only american carrier I flew regularly was United, and I'd rank BA better than them. Apart from one disinterested crew, pretty much every crew on BA has been friendly, efficient, and on the ball, which has been very pleasant.
However I'd rank them well below the asian airlines in hard product, lounges and average level of service etc
