We rented a Mustang convertible for 2 1/2 days, renting it at the Miami airport and returning it to the Orlando airport. Overall was a great experience with one very annoying exception (which dropped it two stars).
The reason we rented from Sixt was that they are the only rental agency in Miami that doesn't charge the crazy $70+ per day fee for dropping the car off at a different location. That is a huge plus!
We didn't have to wait at all at the rental counter, the agent was very professional and didn't try to upsell us on insurance or gas. One minor drawback was that they charged a $10 per day fee to add a spouse as an additional driver (most other rental agencies allow a spouse to drive for free).
The return in Orlando was easy, and they had a shuttle to take us to our gate.
Now for the reason I dropped this from 5 stars to 3 stars : Like I said, we rented a Mustang. We drove about 500 miles over these 2 1/2 days, mostly on highways where the speed limit was greater than 65. Sixt set the Mustang's top speed to 80 MPH! This was incredibly annoying! We were getting passed left & right, and on the two lane highways we had to drive in the slow lane since so many cars were passing us. And to add insult to injury, when the car hit 75, an alert chime sounded and the dashboard displayed a warning that the car was approaching top speed. Then when we hit 80, another alert chime, and a message that the car was at top speed. Then when we decelerated, we would get the "approaching top speed" warning and chime. So this alert chime was constantly going off while driving.
Come on guys, when we rent a Mustang we at least expect to be able to keep up with the flow of traffic. Limiting the top speed to 80 MPH is ridiculous!
Were it not for this setting, I would have given our rental experience all 5 stars!
Hi Kevin,

I have just sent a reply by private message. I hope you find the information helpful.

Many thanks,

Tom

Update:

For those people following the case. At Sixt, we do not set speed limiters on vehicles. The limiter set on this particular vehicle was most likely due to a previous hirer, either purposefully setting this, or doing so by accident.

I hope this helps to clear up any confusion.

Tom
