Good coffee is almost everywhere now, but I can see if you're out in the boonies or on a budget, that bringing your own would be useful.
Unfortunately, though good coffee (or, at least, acceptable coffee) may be everywhere in the US, it's not everywhere in the world. This is particularly true in Asia.
