What's a resort? What's the difference b/w a hotel and resort?

I've got this email from Marriott that they're offering $100 bonus bucks on 2 night stays in one of their selected resorts. Per night rate stats from $120 so for two nights I can be netting $240-100=$140.

Am I missing something here?
