All other things being equal, I'd have expected POUG being offered up to the point the last-minute awards were offered, but as you say, the RTW nature of your ticket may have impacted this.

Still, the principle outlined above does seem to hold. BA would rather have cold hard cash in most circumstances over Avios.

Personally even at 500 quid I can't see myself ever POUG'ing to F (I only book F redemptions if CW isn't available), but plenty on here seem to do it.
