I still can't believe they're axing the NRT-BKK flight. It's interesting to see that Delta has NOT axed their flight. Anyhow, as a historical point, we've seen a number of decisions on Asia-Pacific flights changed after months. UA seems to misfire a lot more often in the Asia-Pacific market for some reason. I wonder if they'll see a profit margin if they switch to the 787 when more of those planes are available and they can make the transition smoothly.
I also think that part of this has to do with Abenomics. With currency deflation many U.S. businesses are seeing an impact out of Japan but it's a short-sighted decision. Eventually the concept of Abenomics is to drive up consumption but that'll take time. This seems like such a short-sighted decision.
