No Additional X-ray Screening at IST for US-bound flights

I'm pleased to report that the IST security for US-bound flights no longer screens for liquids. This means you can purchase water post-initial security (*cough* or take some from the TK club *cough cough*) and won't have it confiscated. I last flew to the U.S. from IST in July 2011 and had my water taken.

The secondary security screenings still happen -- they check your passport, your boarding pass and put some stickers on your passport and boarding pass before allowing you to board.

In the future, should they once again confiscate liquids, there are a number of Coca-Cola vending machines scattered about these gates -- I spotted two in the gate area of 208. However, prices have gone up since I was last here -- they want 3.5 TL for a 12-oz can of soda (sadly, no water available in these machines), instead of the 1 TL for a 500mL bottle of water.
