I understand this may not just be a UA issue, but our dear leader has stated that taxes on airfare causes issues in the industry. So my question is what does UA do with the taxes collected on tickets that funds expire? Do these funds still go the the government or does UA keep the money? ( I ask this question with expired funds as funds remaining after a change fee becomes a gray area)

I could see an interesting case where a refund of taxes may be warranted as UA is only required to collect the funds, but they are not the owner of those taxes.
