I can confirm this from my discussions with Chase. You should be OK for any spend after 12/26, because the points won't post until your next statement closes near the end of January.
Except that mistakes can happen. You can pass the threshold too soon or the billing date can turn out to be different than you expected. Not likely, but possible.
