I too think that SIN is a bit overrated. For the casual traveler, it does indeed have that "wow" factor. But for those of us that have to transit it often, it's not so cool. Here's why I don't think SIN is so cool:

• *G lounge at SIN is a joke
• Security at the gate is annoying, can't bring liquids you buy in the terminal, and they're hypersensitive. Only country that keeps confiscating my nail clippers
• The "Gate Open" and "Boarding" notes on the screen are wildly inaccurate
• The dragons at the entrance to the 'secure' area who actively enforce the 7-10kg carry on rule. No common sense, if I put the extra weight in my pockets, it's suddenly okay.

I suppose this turned into a rant, but I'm much much happier transiting HKG if possible (especially with the frequent traveler card).
