Unless you're flying TT with carry on only I don't see too many benefits. If you have bags you still need to visit a kiosk to print bag tags. Kiosks have removed 99% of the pain from check in for most people (the exception being technophobes)

The real benefit is somewhere like Wellington where it normally only takes me 10 minutes from carpark to Koru including check in at the Kiosk. You could use online check in and simply turn up 35 mins before an international flight, walk straight through security and straight onto the plane.
