ETA: The error occurred on the initial screen, not the confirmation screen. I've seen the confirmation screen error before, but a second try always clears those.
So, I've called back and asked about my issue, and it looks like the errors I'm getting are just a manifestation of the same communications error that everyone else is posting about now. I'll update once this is figured out.
