All UA's TATL's are lie-flat in J and F. OP was in BusinessFirst on a P fare and was offered a buy-up to Global First.
A few years back I was booked in J ORD-MUC, which I recall as being a little less than 9 hr flight. However, it was still the old "BarcaLounger" style and I was in a middle seat. I was offered UFC for around the same price and accepted because I wanted to sleep (better) on the flight.
While i did sleep well, to this day I still think it was one of the biggest wastes of money, as UA's GF experience was (and still is) so mediocre. The only redeeming facet was I let my wife buy it for me as a birthday present, as I've sent her on UA GF flights using miles, which she appreciated and it made her happy to return the favor.
