Is this because every seat has sold out, or is it because SQ are withholding certain blocks of seats until nearer the time?

I have emailed SQ but am yet to get a response.

How can I tell which SQ317 has an aisle seat left available (date is flexible, just need the right seat), without dummy booking each date?

If it makes any difference, I am KrisFlyer Elite Silver.

We book our flights on the exact day they become available as we are restricted to travel periods due to work and always notice that the first 5 rows are blocked out when we do.

I keep checking every week to see if these become available but they never do.

I had to request a child meal over the phone as the website wouldn't let me proceed past the first flight so I asked the person if they could tell me when the front seats will become available and basically he told me to keep checking closer to departure.

Previously I was told the same thing about the airport not releasing the seats due to passenger weight distribution over the plane.

They also say that the blocked seats will become available upon Internet check in, but I am on the website right on time and the seats are still blocked or already taken.

Bottom line is we still get seated together due to early booking although not towards the front which is where I would prefer to be for some quirky reason or phobia.
