One-ways are usually more expensive than roundtrips due to fare structures: if you just book a roundtrip and skip a leg but still pays for that, there would be no point to have such a structure.

Basically you agreed to pay BA xGBP for a service. Now you are asking for another service that BA usually sells for a higher price: plain and simple, they ask you the difference
