Yep... I flew my mom up from Miami to New York for thanksgiving using 7500 BA Avios & $2.50. With AAdvantage Miles it would have cost 12,000 miles.

I've also flown business class with Iberia from Rio to Munich (connecting in Madrid) using BA Avios and paid less than $100 in fees.
