I have arrived at the C terminal and done the shuttle to B with a bus. This was a stair down by one of the gates. The reason was that the EWR-workers said that if I did this then I did not have to go through security at B. This has worked two times and it didn't take long.
Confirm it with personnel at C, and ask them how long it will take. Then no need for security, which can take a long time at Newark....
