If you only fly F and live in Frankfurt then this thread has much merit.
But even then, many LH FFs are however rightly complaining that there is not much point having such a great product if access to the product is so difficult. Mileage is harder to earn, status is harder to get, mileage access is restricted anyway to lower tier FFs, you cant upgrade cheaper tickets and revenue tickets are always massively expensive.
BA F is really, really good. Some elements of LH F are really really really good. This is looking at the margins though. Personally though, despite LH investing so much and restricting access my personal experience of LH F was nothing to write home about : 80% of my BA F trips were significantly better. LX F is another matter though!
Whether BA F is Business + to some is neither here nor there. It's an exclusive cabin. comfortable seat, great (airline) food - and above all its great value for money and accessible for frequent fliers.
Some people here need to see the bigger picture. Times have changed: a commercially successful F needs to be accessible, not a vanity project. No sensible person would pay twice as much for a slightly tastier airline meal and a more exclusive lounge.
The BA compromise is a pragmatic approach to F for today's more cost conscious flier. And it works very well for me.
