No, the seats are angled lie-flat. I can sleep well in them. This is the "NGBC' seats that also are in AA's 777-200s and in their 'international' 757s. They've been in there for a few years now and beginning to show their age but IMHO (I spent 65 hours in them this month alone!) are holding up pretty well. Nothing I'd pay full-fare $$$$ for, though.
