However, I really don't see any value in online check-in at a hotel. Given the need to check and verify identity before giving over a card-key requires some human intervention (save having something like passport verified check-in). And given that check-in has almost always been quick, I see no need to automate it. As well, unlike check out when many people are trying to check-out at once, people checking in come at varying times.
Automated / Online check-out, though, I happily accept. I've seen the check-out lines between 11 and 12.
Totally agree with everything you posted.
In the case of a Country such as China which requires a visa check, it could be tricky for the hotels to check-in 100% electronically. Be interesting to see if hotels want to be put in the middle of it.
