I'm confused. I thought electronic gadgets are now permitted from gate to gate, as long as I put it in airplane mode. (This the “Wow, I am pretending to be completely helpless…”)

My flight was still sitting at the gate(door closed) when the FA walked by and saw me reading on my Kindle. She startled me by yelling "you need to turn that off or I will have the airport police escort you off MY plane!"(imagine a mad Mike Tyson's yelling in a woman's voice) (She made three announcements already to switch it to airplane mode and you, being the superstar traveler that you are, didn’t even look up so at least to let her know you heard her. She didn’t threaten you with either the airport police or called it “MY plane.” There would have been 30 people – at least – who would have heard her and 8 of them would have gone live on FT)

Being the obedient gutless chicken, I complied. (What is so gutless about following her instructions) I turned it off(which is technically not possible because I have the special edition Kindle reader). (Wow! You have the “Special Edition Kindle?) She demanded that I hand it over to her to verify that it was off. She threw it back to me and missed. Fortunately, my seatmate caught it just before it landed on the floor. (Because you were being so passive-aggressive with the sighing and eye movements and doing the quick “look around” to make sure everybody saw what was going on, you probably did the passive-aggressive “See….I turned it off…” and she touched it like she cared. You let it go for a second and it fell into your lap.)

Hasn't the ruled changed? Or does it not apply to US Airways? (And, again, closing with the “I am so new at this!....somebody help me!)

As Paul Harvey would say, “Now you know the Re-est! of the story…..”
I think you grossly overestimate the reach of FT. A small % of travelers are even members of loyalty programs, yet you think of the 20 or so within earshot 8 would have posted on FT???
Highly doubtful.
