Yes, they would. My guess is they run quick maintenance on it from time to time.
It is also used as a backup for the JFK aircraft rotations, if needed.
Barring KE IRROPS, you definitely saw the DL 747. The KE A380 arrives at 9AM and departs at 12pm.
