I'll just throw this out there as food for thought....I doubt that many would agree........

I'll start by saying I have little to no interest in temples, shrines, museums and similar things. I prefer seeing just the city itself. My recommendation is to casually walk Sukhumvit Rd from Laung Suan Rd to about Soi 33, down one side and back the other in the daytime. Allowing for some exploring of side Sois, this should take ~2 days. It's about a 3 mile stretch. Make a note of places you might want to return to at a different time such as night. The second must-do is Chatuchack market on Sat. or Sun. Plan on getting there no later than 8am and staying till 3pm minimum. You won't be able to see it all, not even close, but you'll get the idea, and you won't be bored. Day 4 should be spent checking out MBK and Central World Shopping centers. Even if you're not a shopper it is fascinating, plus you can hit up the food courts for really good cheap food. I could easily see a second day for this. Khao San Rd, is good for an afternoon and evening. OK, I'm up to 6 days already, and you haven't been to Chinatown, or any tourist attractions yet. This is why I tell people that 10 days to 2 weeks is not too much time for Bangkok.
