cannot change BA reservation: web site not working, phone line down

I am currently in New York, delayed by the storm, and I need to reschedule a BA flight to Europe leaving tonight. I tried to do it online, but I get the following error: "Sorry, we are unable to process your request. Please contact your booking agent." The reservation was in fact booked on ba.com.

Then I tried to call the USA number 800-AIRWAYS, it rings for about 20 times, then I get a message "Nobody is available to answer your call" and it hangs up. It's 6pm local time, this is strange.

Then I called their New Zealand number (seemed the only time zone with an open office). A friendly lady found my reservation, put me on hold for 20 minutes, then told me that due to a systems issue she could not access the fare conditions, and they will have to call me back. They haven't called yet.

Any suggestions? Presumably if I don't change/cancel before my flight leaves in a couple of hours, I will lose the full value of the ticket. But it seems there is nobody in the world that can do it for me. I guess I could do it at the airport, but I am not sure I can make it in time.
