I just spoke with an agent on the Gold line yesterday about a reservation change but also asked about the "buy-up" option and was told that yes, they are indeed trying this out. I am not too concerned with a dilution effect, I think that most folks would have done a mileage run to make it if they were close, and I see the DEQM promotion having a bigger effect than this.

For the first time in 6 years, Mr. Meej is looking at a 4K shortage and is having trouble trying to squeeze in a mileage run that isn't crazy expensive. Soooo - we are thrilled to partake in this offer and would have had a hard time finding a mileage run for $400.

I did confirm that they won't offer this until you are within 5K miles, so we'll have to call in the last week of December.
