Yes, that's correct. From Chiang Mai to Siem Reap, we connect via Bangkok (don't see any direct options).

Chiang Mai...you will probably want to do more than looking at elephants and markets. Markets can get repetitive. Check out Doi Suthep and Doi Inthanon. You will be able to book a package that takes you to the sites on a day trip.
Siem Reap. You will probably want to go somewhere for a sunset view, or sunrise. Do you want to go up in that big tethered balloon? Dirt bike tour....bring plenty of water.
Overall sounds fine. 4 days BKK, 4 days Chiang Mai, 4 days Siem Reap, 1 day Bangkok. Make sure you read about the Cambodia visa situation, I believe there are a couple of options.
Thanks, great advice. I've been reading up on Cambodia visas, and it sounds like we'll be set if we use the online application in advance. Really appreciate the comments.
