I've definitely ramped it up over the past couple of years... basically been taking any and all 1st year free CCs with Aeroplan or Amex points attached to them, as well as the Marriott Rewards card (which came with EXCELLENT benefits, at least pre-devaluation). I can't say that I've encountered any adverse effects as a result of all this... then again, other than mortgages on home and business properties I don't really use credit that much... in my entire life I think I carried a CC balance over to the next month maybe twice, and even those were on a Capital One low-interest card that is no longer offered. To me, CCs are strictly a vehicle for acquiring points for leisure travel and are treated as such. Every statement gets paid in full.
