1,000kmh + is very common transatlantic eastbound in the jetstream, but I would think is much less so heading southwesterly towards LHR on a shorthaul.
What is much more unusual is to enjoy an approach path to Heathrow like this :

Lucky you ... usually my approach paths coming from Oslo and almost anywhere in Europe look like this. That's probably a couple of hundreds of pounds of fuel ... no wonder BA has higher fuel charges than most competition.
I like flying but after 100 times circling above London I have seen it now.
