Maybe I just don't take too much notice of the ground speeds, as I've had some pretty quick TATL flights with tail winds.

775 Mph for an A319 is impressive, but the 734 Knt (844 Mph) A340 is pretty rapid. Found a 752 Knt 744 on the Boeing page. Thanks for the link nux.
