So...

1) Has anyone here recently flown ARN-EWR as a *G and gotten lounge access at the contract lounge?

2) Is accessing the SAS *G lounge prior to the 9am departure practical? How close is the lounge to the UA gate?

Many thanks.
Yes, you can access the SAS lounge before going through the Schengen exit passport check. No "customs" to go through. The SAS lounges are in the hallway between the two "old" piers (gates 1-10 and 11-24, respectively). If the UA flight leaves from the non-Schengen areas in those piers (gates 7-10 or 17-24), it's a short walk from the lounges to the gate.
If the UA flight leaves from the new pier (gates F59-F69), there's a Menzies lounge at the start of the F pier, although it looks like it's in the Schengen area.
