Funny you should ask. This may sound dumb but it's true... on a recent LHR-IAH I had two bags of very same wine gums, in my wheel-on, sitting close to my laptop power supply, which had its leads coiled around it. After much head scratching in T5 security team, with 4 of them looking and pointing at screen at one point, it finally resulted in my bag being pulled for the empty-it-all-out routine. Not even a smile from the humourless Eastern European lady who was doing it all when she realised the wine gums were the guilty party.
I could only think they looked kind of dubious next to all the coiled electrics, and so as I do tend to bring wine gums and other diffcult-to-get goodies when I'm in UK, I always put them on the tray now. That of course, causes the scanners to tell me I don't need to take them out, but I'd rather do that than lose 20 mins in the rescan loop.
