Now going totally OT, but I was surprised that I had the offer of a tip turned down when in the US.
I was using Uber, the taxi service Raffles promoted a while ago when they launched in London. I had read that even in the US their service was supposed to be service inclusive and tipping wasn't necessary, but I felt somehow uneasy not offering a tip as I'd be tipping the person at the hotel who helps with my bags.
The driver refused my tip, after he said tipping was unnecessary I said it's ok, just think of this as a bit extra for good service he still refused. I never expected to see that in the US.
It made me feel comfortable that people generally didn't tip on Uber which was good because one of the things I like about taxi services that automatically charge your credit card is you can use them when you don't have much cash on you.
