You need to call your credit card company in advance when you are making an unusual foreign transaction with a relatively unknown merchant.
"Ummm, yes, Charles Schwab? Hi - just letting you know you're about to see some strange charges - they will be from a Japanese web site for an Italian airline for travel between the US and Spain. Oh, and the charges will probably be in Yen. Please make sure to remove the fraud protection for the weekend as I might be buying a few of these . . . thanks!!!"
