For me, it SEEMS to have cancelled. The cancel button on ual.com worked, it showed that it was cancelled. And then CheckMyTrip switched from showing ticketed to cancelled. So it seems pretty good.
Scary that I'm relying on United IT to cover for Wideroe IT.
