Thought I'd give some thoughts on this hotel now that I'm here (being written from the 26th floor lounge).

Hands down, this is the absolutely most incredible W I've ever been in. It's so over the top, I don't even know where to begin. My friend who's traveling with me is a major design/architectural nerd and he's just floored by the level of brand-name opulence used in everything - down to the door hinges, furniture designers, bathroom fixtures, etc. He just made a comment about the one-piece solid wood table in the lounge and how it's probably a $75K table...

As a SPG Plat I had put in for 2 SNAs to be used for our stay but they didn't clear in advance. At checkin I was told we were already upgraded us to a Fabulous room. I mentioned there were several suites still for sale (checked a couple hours prior) and then "suddenly" they found a Fantastic suite for us.

The suite is incredible. Very large bathroom with 2 sinks, shower and tub. 2 separate toilet rooms (both with Toto bidets). Amenities are full-size Bliss bottles. Very large walk in closet. Living room has a MASSIVE comfortable couch (which we're using as a bed since we didn't feel like paying the $80/night for a rollaway) and a 55" Sony LED TV with Bose surround sound system. Bedroom is what I think is a 46" LED. Bedroom and living room have fully closing sliding doors inbetween, and there are also separate doors from the entryway into living room and bedroom.

The lights throughout the suite are electronically controlled by various switches and comfort settings. Drapes and curtains are controlled via switch. All the plugs are fit for multiple types (not sure exactly which countries but US electronics without the 3rd pin work fine).

Breakfast is on the 2nd floor and as you would expect with most high-end Asian hotels, is massive. Tons of western and Asian options such as egg station, waffles/pancakes, build-your-own noodle soup, fruit, meats/cheese, breads/pastries, hot asian (noodles, eggrolls, samsosas, congee, etc). Not sure what the actual cost is since it's included for us.

Lounge is pretty incredible on the 26th floor as well. I think the weekend food spread is different than weekday (with weekday being more extensive) based upon a conversation we overheard by another group. Currently there are a couple of hot asian options, sushi, breads, fruit, several desserts, and a couple other small appetizers. Full top shelf bar (Grey Goose, Tanqueray, JD, Glenmorangie, Baileys reg and mint, 5 different wines, bacardi 151, various beers, and a few other things).

Quality of staff is very good. Everybody is extremely friendly and willing to help, although language barriers are very much present. I don't want to jump to any conclusions since this is my first time in China, but I'd have thought a new hotel of this caliber in such a modern city would ensure highly proficient multi-lingual employees. But many employees only have a very basic English proficiency. We just came from Hong Kong where all the hotel employees seemed to have a much better grasp of English. Very minor nit and maybe I'm just not clued into how much major Chinese cities still have to go in terms of picking up English

Overall, an excellent hotel and I'd highly recommend it.
