I just requested a refund from UA for a $2600 ticket that I could not use because my brother passed away, and the scheduled trip overlapped his funeral. I supplied a death certificate, etc. UA got back to me promptly, telling me that when I re-book the ticket, I should then apply for a waiver of the $200 change fee. They flatly refused to refund the ticket. I could post the incident number if requested. I'm not feeling good about UA at the moment.
