Interesting! Do you know when this policy was set?

I know that US, DL, and HA recently made policy decisions to disallow interline bag checks on separate tickets ( http://www.flyertalk.com/the-gate/bl...-airlines.html ) but I haven't seen this UA rule written down anywhere customer-facing.
