This is 100% false. I would not accept this answer. How would AA have known how you achieved CX status anyway? Status is status, and AA would have know what I am familiar with to find out how your status was obtained. I would call again, maybe a few more times, until someone who knows what they are talking about answers the phone. How frustrating.
