Great ideas -- really appreciate the guidance here!

So according to this page:

It seems like if I book an Economy Fare (which is the game plan right now), I should book on Qantas WITH my AA miles account attached to it. For that, I would get 1:1 miles. I might do that, but if I have travel plans within Australia (Australia to New Zealand, for example), is it possible to use AA miles to book those fares?

Sorry guys -- I realize this is a BA forum and this thread has gotten away from that. But any feedback is appreciated.
