Well said. Those that do consider these to be same are being taken as (unintentional) fools by the airlines. Especially for award flights.

Before a flight only your travel agent, or the issuing airline if you booked direct, can modify ticket.
As you have BA/QF flight numbers and booked with BA they alone can modify. With 4 or more tickets, including award, is more complicated

SIN - PER is a one way cash booking in Y (BA7378)
PER - SIN is a one way Avios booking in J (QF0077)
