Hi all,

First of all, my family and I are completely new to flying Hawaiian Airlines and have no idea what to expect. We booked them for our holiday trip to Taiwan because they were the cheapest, by about $500/ticket vs. flying Delta, which is our normal pick because of our elite status, lounge access, free baggage, etc. However, we decided that $1,500 in savings was worth the above plus not being able to earn mileage.

That being said, we are confused on if we will pay baggage fees are not. HA charges for domestic flights within North America, but does not charge for 1st and 2nd bags to/from Taiwan. Our itinerary is as follows

FROM: PDX
TO: HNL
FLT #: 25
CLASS: COACH
DEP/ARR: 10:15AM/2:25PM

FROM: HNL
TO: TPE
FLT #: 807
CLASS: COACH
DEP/ARR: 1:00AM/6:15AM (NEXT DAY)

And vice versa for the trip home. I doubt we will pay baggage fees on the return trip, but will we be expected to pay baggage fees on the outbound sector because it is a domestic originating flight, even with an international sector in the itinerary?
