I've long had that attitude. When I was moving, I moved most of my stuff three checked bags at a time, but sent all the fragile stuff by FedEx. But then FedEx dropped my well-packed espresso grinder, on its side, from a considerable distance, such that the internal metal supports broke in half. I had bought additional liability coverage, but they denied the claim until I played the BBB game. Reason: No external damage to the box. I'm a little more skeptical about shipping with FedEx now.
