The 55 mph limit... well let's just say I've done a 3000 mile road trip doing 80-90 mph on a "55mph" spare. They are a lot more resilient, but I think the 55 mph limit is for liability reasons.

That said last time I had a car issue, they told told me to go the nearest Hertz to get an exchange even though my rental was a one-way.
