Unless forced to for award bookings, I tend to book using an OTA for multi-city travel. If you use fatwallet or ebates or are part of certain rewards programs (ie: orbitz), you even make a few dollars booking through them.

One drawback of course is the free 24 hour cancellation policy available only at ual.com
