Yes - the reward tickets were a stroke of luck. Guess it's possible on UA (it isn't for the most part on Delta). They're good connections too - one stop each way through ORD.
It's great that you were able to get UA tickets at the current rates before the devaluation goes into effect! I truly loathe Delta, and try to avoid it at all costs.
