Sorry for the newbie questions...

I am trying to book an award flight.
The only availability is to wait list.

After entering the passenger name and clicking to proceed to booking, the site just goes blank on me. It has done so for the past 3 days.

Is this because I have zero miles in the account? Or do I have to call and speak to an agent?
I was going to transfer from AmEx, but remember seeing somewhere here on FT that it is possible to WL without having the miles in the account. Am I mistaken?

Any help / advise would be much appreciated.
